SUMMARY:Introduction to the Climate Resilience Network
DESCRIPTION: \nMike MaddoxEarth System Science Interdisciplinary Center (ESSIC)Climate Resilience Network (CRN)Hydronet\nWednesday, September 174:30 – 5:30 pm\nEdward St. John Teaching and Learning Center, Room 2204 & Remote via Zoom\nClimate Resilience Network (CRN) was created from the University of Maryland, Grand Challenges Program, with funding awarded to Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center (ESSIC), Geology (GEOL), Geography (GEOG), Atmospheric and Ocean Sciences (AOSC) and the Marine Estuarine & Environmental Sciences (MEES) Graduate Program. This project, in its third year, is one of three institutional projects awarded through the Grand Challenges Program.\nCRN’s mission is to connect the research and knowledge developed at the University of Maryland in a collaborative manner to solve climate and environmental issues affecting Maryland communities. The network helps fund several projects around the state including the Hydronet sea level sensor network, freshwater salinization studies, climate-smart agriculture dashboards, urban air quality research, storm water infrastructure studies, changing precipitation patterns and flooding. We work directly with campus partners, federal partners, state agencies and local county and city governments. Our projects are stakeholder driven by a community of need and/or benefit. CRN also hosts an annual stakeholder workshop that provides a venue and platform for researchers, policy makers, stakeholders and community members to freely discuss environmental issues in Maryland. \nThis talk provides and overview of the project, with subsequent talks in the seminar series focusing on specific topics within CRN.\n \n RSVP\n \n
