Cooperative Institute for Satellite Earth System Studies

The UMD Cooperative Institute for Satellite Earth System Studies (CISESS) offers paid summer internships mentored by our CISESS scientists to work on NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) projects covering a large range of topics including climate studies, satellite data assimilation, artificial intelligence, 3D visualization of meteorology maps, and more.

The program is aimed at Undergraduates and High School seniors. It has an extensive range of topics, including climate studies, satellite data assimilation, artificial intelligence, 3D visualization, support for the remote sensing laboratory, and more. See what students did last year at https://cisess.umd.edu/outreach/students-page/.

This year, the Grand Challenges: Addressing Climate Challenges for a Sustainable Earth Project will provide additional funding to support more interns, specifically on climate studies and local impacts of our changing climate.
